Priscilla Queen of the Desert rolls into the West End

Jason Donovan, Tony Sheldon and Oliver Thornton will lead the cast in the West End production of ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical’, written by Allan Scott and Stephan Elliott. This spectacular new stage musical, directed by Simon Philips, will open at the Palace Theatre in March 2009 after success in the Star City Casino, Sydney.

Based on the hit film ‘The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ staring Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp, the musical tells the story of Tick (Jason Donovan), Bernadette (Tony Sheldon) and Adam (Oliver Thornton): a glamorous Sydney-based performing trio who drive to the middle of the Australian outback for a show in their battered old bus; affectionately named Priscilla.

Multi award-winning actor and singer Jason Donovan will play the lead role of Tick. Donovan found fame as Scott Robinson in Neighbours and more recently appearing in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. His theatre credits include Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Caratacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and the title role in John Doyle’s production of Sweeney Todd. Jason has enjoyed huge musical success with his three albums and numerous top 10 hits.

With a dazzling array of outrageous costumes and a score of dance-floor classics; this wildly fresh and funny new musical is a sensational journey to the heart of fabulous.
