The next big thing: Oliver the Musical?
We’ve found a pitch-perfect Joseph in Lee Mead and Connie Fisher has solved the problem of Maria. So what’s next from the BBC’s musical talent show stable? Well, we’re pleased to reveal that BBC1’s next musical sensation will be the pocket-picking: rags to riches story of orphan Oliver.
Coming to our screens later this year, I’d Do Anything reunites host Graham Norton with theatre supremo Andrew Lloyd Webber. Joining Lloyd-Webber on the panel is another heavy-weight from musical theatre, Cameron Mackintosh.
Theatre producer, Mackintosh has been responsible for hits like Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Avenue Q and Phantom of the Opera to name but a few. It’s guaranteed that for his new production of Oliver, Mackintosh will want the very best.
The audition process for I’d Do Anything starts later this month and ends early in February: with auditions taking place in London, Belfast, Manchester and Glasgow. The search is on for three young male performers (aged 9-12 years) to share the role of Oliver and one talented young woman (aged 17-35) to play Nancy.
I’d Do Anything will air on BBC1 later this year.
