About Fame - The Musical
Fame is the original high school musical, following the lives of a group of aspiring students at New York’s School for the Performing Arts. The musical traces the students’ highs and lows from auditions to graduation day.
Show story
Fame – The Musical tells the story of a group of energetic, vibrant and diverse young people studying at New York City’s High School of Performing Arts. Over their four years of study, the students confront issues like prejudice, feelings of self-worth, sexuality, unrequited love and substance abuse on route to success.
Fame background
Fame – The Musical is adapted from the award-winning 1980 movie: conceived and developed by David De Silva with music by Steve Margoshes and lyrics by Jacque Levy. The musical score is significantly different from Fame the movie. Fame has had six West End runs and is currently showing at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Showcasing talent
Fame – The Musical, like the film and TV show, is about young, aspiring actors and dancers and there are plenty at the Shaftesbury Theatre. In the lead role of Nick is Ian H Watkins (formerly from band Steps) and playing Serena is Natalie Casey (ex-Hollyoaks). They're joined by other young starlets and directed by Karen Bruce.
