Gone with the Wind tells the story of rebellious Southern belle, Scarlett O’Hara, and her fiery relationships with friends, family, lovers, and enemies in Civil War America. Through Scarlett's life we see how the Civil War affected the old order in America’s southern states, as slavery was abolished and the world moved on.

Gone with the Wind Background

Trevor Nunn is to direct the new musical adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel: scheduled to open at the New London Theatre in April 2008. Producer Aldo Scrofani has been developing the concept of a Gone with the Wind Musical with Nunn and composer/lyricist Margaret Martin for over three years. The cast includes Darius Danesh (of Pop Idol fame) and Jill Paice.

Gone with the Wind the novel is one of the best selling books of the 20th century and won author Margaret Mitchell the Pulitzer Prize. Three years later, the film adaptation made box office history as the highest grossing film of all time. It remains to be seen whether Gone with the Wind the musical will share the same acclaim as the novel and the film.
