About Grease

Grease is a musical love story, set in Rydell High, a fictional high school in 50s Chicago. Full of jiving and memorable songs, the musical also explore social issues like teenage pregnancy, gang violence, rebellion, friendship and love.

Show story

Danny Zuko is the cool leader of the T-Birds. Sandy is the square new girl at Rydell High, who had a brief affair with Danny the summer before. The reunion at school is uncomfortable: with Danny denying his feeling for Sandy to protect his reputation. A heart broken Sandy enlists the Pink Ladies to help transform her.

Grease background

Grease the musical, currently playing at the Piccadilly Theatre, is directed by David Gilmore and choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing’s Arlene Phillips. It features all the classic songs from the movie including, ‘You’re the One that I Want’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Summer Loving’ and ‘Grease is the Word’.

Danny still going strong

From 16 June 2008, Danny Bayne, winner of ITV reality talent show 'Grease is the Word' will be joined by Nicola Brazil in the role of Sandy, as Susan McFadden says goodbye to the production. Danny and partner Susan, fought off thousands of other hopefuls to win the coveted lead roles in the West End revival of Grease the Musical. New Sandy, Nicola Brazil made her West End debut in the show Wicked.
