’In Celebration’ tells the story of three brothers - Andrew, Colin and Steven – who return to their northern roots for a family reunion. Although they’ve returned to celebrate, the explosive complexities of family life and long-held grievances look set to disrupt the festivities.

In Celebration background

In Celebration was written by award-winning novelist and playwright David Storey. Storey, the son of a miner, often focuses on themes of isolated men trying to escape or connect with others. The first production of In Celebration opened in London’s Royal Court in 1969 and started Alan Bates and Brian Cox.

Orlando’s stage debut

Orlando Bloom went straight from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama to Hollywood, appearing in the blockbusters Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. This is Bloom’s first theatrical production and will be an exciting new challenge for him.
