Into the Hoods is an urban take on Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical Into the Woods. After two successful years at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006 and 2007: ZooNation’s urban fairytale is coming to The Novello Theatre in London’s West End.

Show Story

Into the Hoods follows the story of two kids lost in the ‘hood. Whilst truanting, an evil landlord befriends the kids and offers them a room in his tenement block so long as they work for him. On their travels the kids meet Spinderella, owner of some gold Adidas trainers; Lil Red in her bright red hoodie; music producer Rap-on-Zel and Jaxx (who lives in the basement and owns a white ipod).

After success at the Edinburgh Fringe, ZooNation brings Into the Hoods to the West End. This energetic show puts an urban hip-hop spin on Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s darkly humorous musical Into the Woods. The show is set to a soundtrack of music by artists including Gorillaz, Basement Jaxx, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Black Eyes Peas and The Chemical Brothers.

Talent young performers

ZooNation is home to many professional street dancers and is well known on the UK’s underground dance circuit through regular appearances at Sadler’s Well’s hip-hop dance event. Into the Hoods is this young company’s most ambitious and entertaining project yet. An ingenious combination of narrative musical theatre and hip-hop dance show: it’s a treat for all ages and will put a smile on your face.
