About Mary Poppins
Disney classic, Mary Poppins has been given the theatrical treatment! The musical is based on the film and the books by P.L. Travers. A beautifully staged production with songs reminiscent of childhood: make sure you catch it before it closes in January.
Show Story
Jane and Michael Banks are troublesome children: Mr and Mrs Banks can’t communicate with each other or their children. Into this unhappy family, come the magical nanny, Mary Poppins with her spoonful of sugar and positive outlook on life. With the help of Bert, Mary turns around the fortunes of the Banks family.
Mary Poppins background
Mary Poppins the musical, produced by Cameron MacKintosh, doesn’t try to be a remake of the film. Instead the musical blends the film’s music with additional scenes from Pamela Travers’ book to create something new. A top class writer was needed to merge the two, that task fell to Julian Fellowes of Gosford Park fame.
Sing-a-long favourites
Mary Poppins on stage features all the family favourite tunes including: ‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’, ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’, ‘Feed the Birds’, ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, ‘Lets Go Fly a Kite’ and ‘A Man has Dreams’.
Important info: Recommended viewing age seven and above, children under three will not be allowed into the theatre.
