The world's best-loved musical, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, continues to delight audiences in this lavish production at the London Palladium. Summer Strallen is the brand new Maria, and has taken over the coveted role to great critical acclaim.

No stranger to the West End stage, Summer was last seen as leading lady in The Drowsy Chaperone and in Guys and Dolls. Don't miss the opportunity to see her singing some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.

Show story

The Sound of Music follows the story of Maria, a woman sent from her studies in a convent to become governess for Captain von Trapp and his seven children. During her time with the Von Trapp’s Maria has to win over the hostile children, deal with her growing feelings for the Captain (who is engaged to someone else) and deflect unwanted Nazi attention. Will there be a happy ending? Hopefully!

Sound of Music background

This Andrew Lloyd Webber revival of The Sound of Music hit the stage in November 2006. The show includes direction from Jeremy Sams, choreography by Strictly Come Dancing’s Arlene Philips and set design by Robert Jones. The musical is very popular, thanks in part to the BBC talent show; How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria and a TV tie-in with Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Summer radiates warmth

Rising star in the West End, Summer Strallen, has been officially unveiled as the new Maria in The Sound of Music. You may recognise Strallen from the soap Hollyoaks where her character Summer Shaw has been pursing Andrew Lloyd-Webber for a part in one of his West End Musicals (another clever TV tie-in from Lloyd-Webber). But actress, Summer Strallen is far from inexperienced in theatre-world, having appearing in The Drowsy Chaperone and The Boyfriend.

Summer Strallen is on holiday

19 to 24 May 2008 and 16 to 21 June 2008.
