About The Ambassadors Theatre

The Ambassadors theatre is a intimate venue with a small stage and auditorium (the depth of the stage is just 6.25 metres). The cosy auditorium has a proscenium arched stage, suited particularly to revue style productions.

The Ambassadors and the St Martin's Theatre next door were built to be companions by architect W. Sprague in 1913. The Ambassadors is best known as the original home of the Agatha Christie thriller The Mousetrap. The Play opened at the Ambassadors on 25th November 1952 and stayed until 1974, when it moved to St Martin's next door. The play is currently the longest running show ever, running for over 50 years.

OPENED: 5th June 1913
LISTED: Grade II
SEATS: 444 on 2 levels
ARCHITECT: W G R Sprague
