About the Apollo Victoria
The Apollo Victoria is currently home to the musical Wicked but it started life as an art deco ‘super-cinema’ in 1929. The Apollo Victoria is built in concrete with vertical and horizontal fluted columns on the façade and sides. The theatre’s internal décor is dominated by polished marble, chrome and granite detail.
The Apollo Victoria is the largest West End theatre and can host an audience of 2,025 including standing spaces.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-running, roller-skating extravangza ‘Starlight Express’ played here for 18 years. It was replaced by his ‘Bombay Dreams’, and then welcomed the Bee Gees’ ‘Saturday Night Fever’ before Wicked arrived from Broadway.
