About the Lyric Theatre
Cabaret is currently running at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. The Lyric is now the oldest theatre on this famous street, being built behind an original 1767 house front and still using an electric pump to operate its iron curtain.
The Lyric Theatre is the second to be built on this part of Shaftesbury Avenue. The building's bars and foyer were refurbished in 1932-33, whilst the façade was restored in 1994. Originally designed with a seating capacity of 1,306 it now offers 967 seats on four levels.
Notable productions at the Lyric Theatre include ‘Five Guys Named Moe’ (1990), ‘How The Other Half Loves’ (1972) and ‘Death of a Salesman’ (2005).
