About the Victoria Palace Theatre
The Victoria Palace Theatre is currently home to the award-winning musical Billy Elliot.
Over the years, it has forged a tradition of musical theatre; from the original production of 'Me and My Girl' in 1937 to the long-running 'Black and White Minstrel Show' to more recent productions of 'Annie', 'Fame' and 'Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story'.
The Victoria Palace was built on the site of two old music halls, directly opposite Victoria Station and opened in 1911. The word 'Theatre' was added in 1934.
The building has a domed auditorium and a sliding roof to help ventilate the auditorium between performances – a throwback to the days of heavy smoking during shows.
Elizabeth Taylor made her West End debut here in 1982, in a production of 'The Little Foxes'.
